Symptomatic of its rushed pace, Leah's exit from Daryl's life equally occurs all too abruptly, and without much resolution. By comparison, his fling with Leah feels like being privy to a weird, Freudian dream.

His current relationship with Connie, for example, feels much more authentic, having developed organically over the course of two seasons, with points of connection and empathy that we can clearly identify between the two. The character's first on-screen romance deserves more than a handful of wistful flashbacks. There just simply isn't enough time in a single episode to give us a clear picture of why Daryl fell in love with this woman we've only just met.Īfter all, This is Daryl Dixon we're talking about the infamously introverted lone wolf who doesn't open up to even his closest friends until they’ve gone to hell and back together. The pair go from almost killing each other to becoming a domestic couple in the space of 30 minutes, with an almost hilariously cliched montage used to gloss over years of their blossoming romance. Daryl and Carol are at odds about a lot of things and it’s a bit tense between them. For one thing, Daryl's romance with Leah, a similarly misanthropic hermit living with her dog (yes, the Dog) in a forest cabin, comes across as rushed.

Carol knew about Leah but not all about the situation. In present time Carol and Daryl went on a food and supply run, which led them to the river, which ultimately led them to the cabin where the story unfolds. This is how dog officially linked up with Daryl. Daryl wanted to keep looking for Rick and it created a rift between the two, Leah asked him to make a decision, sadly he did make his decision and it was to late and Leah was gone from the cabin and you could see a hint of some sort of struggle. The two end up having a thing for awhile. The two bond a bit over who they have lost, Leah lost her boy, who wasn’t her boy, and Daryl losing his brother. Leah notices that Daryl has some frost bitten fingers after returning his fish and invites him back to the cabin. The two end up crossing paths a few more times, dog wanders to Daryl’s camp, Daryl tries to give her a peace offering of a fish, Leah saves Daryl from some walkers and he gets mad telling her to stay away from his camp. She ends up letting him leave and told him to stay off her land. This female ties up Daryl to a chair and asks him a bunch of questions. Daryl came up upon a cabin and he went in to take a look, at this point he meets a shotgun to his face from a female inside. A few months later dog found Daryl again, and made enough fuss for Daryl to follow the dog. One day, dog found him and came up and bonded with him for a bit and then took off. For me, it was nice to see some of the things that Daryl was doing while he was looking for Rick, and how long he was out looking for Rick, but I think an entire episode dedicated to that was to much. With that being said the way I look at this episode could easily change if it leads to something else in the Walking Dead Universe in the future. Not every episode is going to be a winner, we all know that, it’s how we are able to say, “oh wow that was an amazing episode! It’s because they are above the average episode, for me this one fell flat.
